Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This contract opportunity spans multiple schools, empowering you to support school-age students needing specialized instruction and guidance for visual impairments. As an itinerant educator, your expertise will ensure students receive tailored strategies to access their curriculum, maximize independence, and thrive in every educational setting.

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
• Experience working with school-age students who have varying degrees of visual impairment
• Strong knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and instructional adaptations
• Excellent collaboration skills to coordinate with educators, families, and service providers
• Flexibility and organizational skills to manage an itinerant caseload across multiple sites

Key Responsibilities:

• Travel to assigned schools within Delaware County, providing direct instruction and consultation.
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals for each student, focusing on functional, academic, and life skills.
• Provide training and resources for school staff and families regarding best practices in supporting visually impaired students.
• Regularly assess students’ progress and adjust interventions as needed.
• Advocate for appropriate accommodations, technology tools, and accessibility modifications in classroom settings.
