Position Summary

The School of Law Communications office has the decision-making authority for the school's overall communication strategy; actively manages and directs the school's website and affiliated web and social media presences; plans, creates, produces, and distributes various end products, including magazines, e-newsletters, brochures, blogs, advertisements, annual reports, photos, videos, and press releases; and develops and administers the school's graphic design, writing, and logo usage standards and visual brand guidelines in accordance with the university's overall marketing strategy and identity guidelines. Reporting to the Director of Communication, the Graphic Designer and Multimedia Specialist will use conceptual, creative, and technical production skills to contribute designs to the School of Law's web, print, and digital graphic design communications campaigns, initiatives, and programs. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with stakeholders on the successful delivery of assigned projects, using standardized project management methodologies, processes, and design tools. These projects may include website content and maintenance, e-newsletters, calendar entries, event promotion materials, advertisements, flyers, brochures, posters, logos, displays, charts, graphics and image, and video management. This individual will work in tandem with the Director, University Communications, and the law school Information Technology team, to support the marketing and communications needs of the law school. The ideal candidate for this position will be an upbeat, talented, detail-oriented, collaborative team member who will lead with initiative and is eager to roll up their sleeves as needed in support of team success.

Minimum Requirements

• Three years experience in gathering information, writing/producing materials, presenting information to the public and public relations.
• One year of this experience must have included responsibility for press releases and interaction with the news media.

• Photography/Videography/Multimedia Editing and Production and best practices
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.), Canva, and other design tools
• Ability to function in a modern web environment, with intermediate-to-extensive experience working in content management systems (Drupal, Word Press)
• Knowledge of industry standard design software; Interactive and digital media; photography; Illustration; Technical illustration; Typography; Video art direction or production; Pre-press and printing processes; Layout and composition; Display and exhibit preparation
• Ability to work independently and be self-directed
• Ability to manage time and projects in an efficient manner and work in a fast-paced environment to meet assigned deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Exceptional visual communication skills
• Exceptional Adobe Creative Suite skills
• Demonstrated high-functioning organizational skills while working as part of a larger team
• Experience working and partnering with clients, constituents, and stakeholders to determine a design strategy and solution
• Comfort working in content management (CMS) and project management programs such as Basecamp, Asana, or Wrike
• Comfort sizing images for various web properties and captioning digital multimedia content
• Experience or familiarity with web multimedia content, including streaming media, Podcasts (audio and video), and RSS
• Experience working in email marketing systems such as MyEmma, Qualtrics
• Experience working with outside services and vendors
