Duties

• Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers, slicers, and food processors
• Follow food safety protocols diligently, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the kitchen
• Assist with menu planning by understanding dish components and contributing ideas for seasonal or special offerings
• Handle food with care, practicing proper food handling techniques to prevent contamination and ensure freshness
• Collaborate closely with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation, timing, and presentation for optimal service flow
• Maintain a clean workstation by regularly cleaning utensils, surfaces, and equipment in accordance with safety standards in production
• Support catering events or special functions by preparing large quantities of food while adhering to recipe specifications and portion control

Skills

• Proven experience in food preparation within a restaurant or food service environment, including dietary department or dietary aide experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of culinary techniques such as slicing, knife skills, and recipe adherence
• Familiarity with food safety management practices and safety standards in production environments
• Ability to operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently under pressure
• Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with kitchen staff and front-of-house teams
• Experience with menu planning, meal preparation, and catering services is highly desirable
• Knowledge of food industry best practices related to food handling, sanitation, and safety standards
• Demonstrated ability to work quickly while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced setting
