Shop Helper The Shop Helper supports day-to-day operations in a clean, well-organized manufacturing shop by performing a variety of hands-on tasks such as machine operation, deburring, spot welding, assembly, grinding, and general fabrication. You will work in a single department for the duration of your contract, allowing you to develop consistency and depth in your assigned area, even though the work can be repetitive at times. Responsibilities Assist with general shop duties to support daily production and manufacturing activities. Operate basic shop machinery and equipment as directed, following all safety procedures. Perform deburring tasks to remove sharp edges and finish metal parts to required specifications. Conduct spot welding operations under supervision, ensuring clean and accurate welds. Assemble components and parts according to work instructions and production requirements. Carry out grinding and basic fabrication tasks to prepare and finish materials. Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned work. Handle and move materials and finished products, including lifting items weighing 50 pounds or more. Maintain a clean and organized work area by participating in regular cleaning and housekeeping activities. Follow established workflows and stay within the assigned department throughout the contract period. Adhere to all safety guidelines, quality standards, and shop policies. Communicate with team members and supervisors about any issues, defects, or safety concerns observed during work. Essential Skills Ability to perform general labor and production tasks in a manufacturing environment. Comfort using hand tools and power tools safely and accurately. Capability to lift 50 pounds or more on a regular basis. Willingness to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining quality and attention to detail. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn machine operation, deburring, spot welding, grinding, assembly, and fabrication tasks. Reliability and strong work ethic, with readiness to follow instructions and shop procedures. Ability to work effectively in a structured department setting and follow established workflows. Additional Skills & Qualifications No prior experience required; entry-level candidates are welcome. Previous manufacturing experience is a plus. Experience with deburring and spot welding is preferred but not required. Exposure to shop classes in high school or similar hands-on training is beneficial. Interest in developing welding and fabrication skills over time. Willingness to grow within a manufacturing environment and take on new responsibilities as needed. Why Work Here? Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
