Configuration Analyst

Additional Notes: This is a 1-year contract assignment with the potential for extension based on business needs. This is a full-time position based in Sterling Heights, MI , working a 9/80 schedule (80 hours over 9 workdays) with approximately 40 hours per week . Job Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Configuration Analyst II to join our engineering team supporting the configuration management of complex hardware systems. This role is responsible for maintaining product configuration integrity throughout the design, development, and production lifecycle by managing engineering changes, technical documentation, and configuration records. Impact Areas Configuration Management: Perform hardware configuration management activities to ensure engineering products remain accurately documented throughout the product lifecycle. Engineering Change Control: Manage engineering changes using established configuration management processes while maintaining approved configuration baselines. Technical Documentation: Create, maintain, and deliver Engineering Technical Data Packages (TDPs), engineering documentation, and configuration records. Audit Support: Assist with configuration management and quality audits to ensure compliance with company and industry standards. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers to ensure product configuration accuracy. Data Management: Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, and product data within PLM/PDM systems. Reporting & Documentation: Prepare reports, metrics, and documentation to support engineering and configuration management activities. Process Improvement: Develop solutions for configuration-related issues while following established policies and procedures. Qualifications Experience using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or Product Data Management (PDM) systems. Strong understanding of engineering documentation and configuration management processes. Experience managing engineering changes, configuration baselines, and technical documentation. Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining documentation accuracy. Education / Experience Technical associate's degree or equivalent Configuration Management experience required. Minimum 2 years of experience in Configuration Management, Engineering Document Control, or a related technical field. Experience with PLM/PDM systems is required. Preferred Background Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline. Experience supporting manufacturing, aerospace, or defense programs. Experience using PTC Windchill or similar PLM software. Experience managing Bills of Materials (BOMs). Knowledge of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and Technical Data Packages (TDPs). Familiarity with Configuration Management standards including MIL‑HDBK‑61A, MIL‑STD‑31000, EIA‑649, and ASME drawing standards. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Familiarity with CMMI processes.
