Export Specialist

The Export Specialist will facilitate the movement of products and materials out of the country via ocean or air freight, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, local, national and international laws. Responsibilities Prepare and coordinate documentation for all export activities. Coordinate cargo pickup/transfer and monitor status. Communicate with export authorities, customers and suppliers across all territories to ensure lawful relations. Obtain spot rates as needed. Correspond with overseas agents and clients: pre-alerts, rate requests, shipment status. Track shipments and update customers/agents. Create and maintain customer files. Prepare customer invoices and approve payables. Audit files for accuracy and completeness. Ensure accurate data entry and document upload into the system. Assist other departments/divisions when requested. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience handling exports (air and/or ocean) or equivalent education and experience. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines. Team player and able to work independently. Knowledge of U.S. customs laws, practices and procedures. Fluency in English required; additional languages preferred. Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Experience handling the full life cycle of exports (air and/or ocean) or equivalent education and experience. Experience in freight forwarding industry preferred. Environment 100% performed in a climate-controlled internal office environment under normal office conditions. Travel up to ___% may be required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to feel and handle, reach with arms and hands, talk and hear. The employee frequently stops, kneels, crouches, lifts weight up to 25 pounds, and works in a fluid, fast-paced environment.
