Job TitleMedical AssistantJob DescriptionBenefits:$18-$19.50Competitive Health & Welfare BenefitsMonthly $43 stipend to use toward ancillary benefitsHSA with qualifying HDHP plans with company match401k plan after 6 months of service with company match (Part-time employees included)Employee Assistance Program that is available 24/7 to provide supportEmployee Appreciation DaysEmployee Wellness EventsMinimum Qualifications:1-2 years of experience in orthopedics, spine surgery, or pain management is preferred.In lieu of experience must have the following training and/or experience:Graduated from a formal training program during the last 12-18 months, and have the CMA certificate;OR, Is grandfathered in as defined by State regulation.The employee must pass the MA competency exam within the first six months of employment.Active Medical Assistant certification such as Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) with proof of current membership from American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with proof of current membership from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) with proof of current membership from National Health Career Association (NHA) (Test administered after 7/1/2017 only) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) with proof of current membership from National Certified Competency Testing (NCCT), or per State regulationsExperience with office medical procedures and treatments and knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR and scheduling software.Certification or additional training must meet the requirements for meaningful use.BLS certification requiredHigh school diploma/GED, and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program as defined by state regulations.Preferred: Two years of experience in an outpatient physical therapy clinic. Experience with orthopedicsEssential Functions:Facilitates communication between the patient and the provider during patient care:Collect and share pertinent information with the providerReceives and acts on directives from the providerResponsible for preparing the patient for a visit with the provider. Duties include but are not limited to, rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vitals, reviewing intake paperwork, pulling up radiology images, removing dressings, procedure set-up, injection prep, and accurate data entry into EMR.Responsible for completing tasks associated with Company initiatives such as PROs, Quality Payment Programs, etc.Maintains exam room standards. Rooms should be restocked at the end of each clinic day. Rooms and tables should be cleaned as needed during the clinic and at the end of each day.Monitor biohazard and sharps containers and replace them as needed.Assist the provider in preparing patient prescriptions and completing medical and patient forms (i.e. work release, FMLA, etc.).Retrieves and responds to voicemails within 24 business hours and documents actions in EMR.Prepares electronic patient charts for clinic visits before the date of service.Verify any outstanding testing results are in EMR, confirm the appropriateness of the patient to the provider (body part and/or insurance), note imaging, DME, or casting needed prior to provider visit on the date of service.Scans clinical documents into EMR.Print clinic schedules on the morning of the date of service.Ensures the patient receives education as indicated by the provider.Manages EMR desktops of assigned providers in a timely manner.Act as PTO Buddy per clinic planCreate and promote a positive patient experienceMaintain HIPAA compliant environmentMaintain clean workspaceAbout us:The Center for Orthopedic Research and Education, We don't mean to brag but did you know The CORE Institute has been ranked by Ranking Arizona: The Best of Arizona Businesses!?#1 for Orthopedic Practices#1 for Healthiest Healthcare Employers#3 for Best Healthcare Workplace CultureWinner in Best Places to WorkEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
