Accounting Manager

BMC is hiring an Accounting Manager who wants to help business owners understand their numbers and make better decisions. This is not a compliance only role! You'll lead ongoing client relationships, guide tax planning, and review your team's work, with time set aside for quarterly conversations with every client. The basics: Tax season: Expected 50-hour weeks, February 1- April 15, with additional tax-season hours paid on top of base Bonuses: Tax season bonus, holiday bonus, and company-wide incentive plan Time off: Three weeks of PTO in year one, plus floating holidays and summer half-day Fridays Location: Frederick, MD. Hybrid or local candidates preferred; fully remote considered, with paid travel for initial training and spring and fall team gatherings What you'll do: Own the advisory relationship for a portfolio of business clients, meeting quarterly to discuss financials, projections, and tax-saving opportunities Review financial statements and tax returns prepared by Senior Accountants, and meet annually with clients to explain their returns Identify additional advisory needs and help clients act on them Mentor Senior and Staff Accountants and partner with our Accounting Services Director on team development What you'll bring: A public accounting background, a strong foundation in corporate and individual tax preparation and review, and the ability to lead client conversations about financial health and strategy. You should also enjoy helping other accountants develop their skills. EA or CPA preferred. We support and reimburse continuing education and certifications.
