Technology Trainer

Job Description

The Systems Trainer independently delivers end-user training on the client's electronic medical record (EMR) and other enterprise systems during implementation, go-live, and post-live stabilization. This role applies adult learning principles and healthcare workflow knowledge to drive user competency and adoption across assigned facilities, serving as a working-level extension of the Enterprise Systems L&D team on a project or contract basis. Training assignments are primarily EMR-focused; the Systems Trainer may also be asked to deliver training on other enterprise technologies, with Acadia providing product-specific onboarding to bring the trainer up to speed before facilitating those sessions.

• Independently conduct classroom and virtual training sessions on EMR and related enterprise systems for assigned disciplines (e.g., nursing, social work, case management, admissions/intake, physician/prescriber workflows, pharmacy, billing, therapy services).

• Develop and maintain training materials, job aids, quick-reference guides, and e-learning content tailored to system workflows and facility-specific needs.

• Provide elbow-to-elbow go-live support to end-users, reinforcing training and resolving workflow questions in real time on the unit.

• Assess trainee competency during and after training; identify knowledge gaps and provide additional coaching or remediation.

• Collaborate with facility leadership, super users, and subject matter experts to tailor content to local workflows and operational context.

• Troubleshoot basic system issues encountered during training or go-live support and escalate unresolved issues to the appropriate application or IT team.

• Document training completion, attendance, and competency records in the designated tracking system.

• Participate in train-the-trainer sessions to prepare and credential facility super users.

• Communicate proactively with the Training Manager/Principal Trainer regarding facility readiness, risks, and support needs.

• Deliver training on non-EMR enterprise technologies as assigned, following Acadia-provided product onboarding to build working proficiency before facilitating end-user sessions.

Skills and Requirements

75% travel is the standard expectation for this role. Actual travel will fluctuate above or below that baseline depending on the active project portfolio and system delivery schedule. Go-live schedules include some evening and weekend hours.

• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent professional experience considered in lieu of degree.

• 2–5 years of experience in healthcare IT training, EMR implementation/go-live support, or a related clinical or operational role.

• Working knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional delivery methods across classroom, virtual, and blended modalities.

• Experience with WellSky or comparable behavioral health EMR platforms strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and become proficient in new software systems outside of EMR, based on training and onboarding provided by Acadia.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting to diverse audiences.

• Able to work independently with minimal oversight once credentialed on assigned content.

• Proficient with standard training-support tools (e.g., LMS, ticketing/tracking systems, virtual meeting platforms). · Hands-on experience with EMR conversions or implementations

· Experience supporting clinical workflows (e.g., nursing, therapy, home health, hospice)

· Prior involvement in QA, testing, or validation activities for healthcare systems
