Trust and Estates Paralegal

One of our favorite law firm clients is looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Trust and Estates Paralegal to join their team in suburban Maryland. In this role, you would provide substantive legal support to attorneys in all aspects of trust and estate administration. You must have a strong understanding of probate procedures, estate and trust administration, a comfort level with various electronic software used to prepare estate and trust accounting, and a high level of organizational and communication skills. RESPONSIBILITIES The preparation of probate filings for Maryland, District of Columbia, and Virginia. Assisting with administration of estates and trusts from inception to close, including, but not limited to, the sale and transfer of assets. Preparation of federal and state estate tax returns. Overall management of estate and trust administration in a timely manner. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE A bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate. At least 3 years' experience in estate, trusts and probate. Proficient in probate and trust administration procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort and skill in speaking with clients and other professionals. Strong computer skills including probate-specific tax and accounting computer software (GEMS preferred). Experience with EVP, iManage, and Microsoft Office a plus. Critical attention to detail, the ability to manage a large case load, strong math skills and an understanding of basic estate and income tax concepts. Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and support staff. This is a full-time, in-office position.
