Senior Property Accountant

About The Opportunity Our client, a well-established commercial real estate company, is seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to join their accounting team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with a strong commercial real estate background who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience managing the full accounting cycle for a property portfolio. The ideal candidate will have extensive property accounting experience, strong financial reporting skills, and hands-on experience with CAM reconciliations. Experience supporting retail properties is highly preferred. Responsibilities Manage the full-cycle accounting for an assigned portfolio of commercial properties Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Complete month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations Perform balance sheet reconciliations and analyze general ledger activity Prepare and review Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Support internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules and supporting documentation Work closely with property managers and operations teams to resolve accounting discrepancies Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiencies Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience Commercial real estate property accounting experience required Retail property accounting experience strongly preferred Extensive experience preparing CAM reconciliations Experience using Yardi, Yardi Voyager, or MRI property management/accounting software required Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment Why Join?
