Cost Accountant

Strong Comprehensive Benefits Package: 401k, Life Insurance, FSA, Education Assistance Plan, 11 paid holidays, PTO and Medical/Dental/Vision This role is responsible to work to ensure the financial integrity of the business unit, including an accurate and timely close (both P&L and B/S). Accountable for ongoing development and maintenance of product costs; partner with operations to trace costs back to underlying business activities. Support business as partner to Plant Manager to drive plant savings. Key Responsibilities: Manage the financial accounts of the entity, including monthly accruals, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis. Recommend corrective actions to management based on analysis. Establish and maintain an environment of controls and compliance Analyze manufacturing variances to understand financial performance in cooperation with operations team and identify improvement opportunities. Manage and update standard costs in local ERP system; costing support will include actual products as well as new product inquiries. Support and provide input into planning, budgeting and forecasting processes. Produce ad hoc reports as required to enable decision making. Oversee inventory valuation and reconciliation. Conduct physical inventory counts and reconcile with the accounting system. Identify cost reduction opportunities and provide recommendations for improvement. Work with other departments to streamline processes and improve cost efficiency. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in relevant business or technical field. 2-10 years of experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing setting. Prior work with ERP software preferred; JD Edwards a plus.
