Supplier Development Engineer (Electronics)

Supplier Development Engineer (Electronics) Reporting To: Manager, Process Work Schedule: Onsite – Buffalo, NY Responsibilities Conduct on‑site assessments and audits of suppliers’ quality management systems and manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with ISO9001, IATF16949, or AS9100. Support the sourcing team in selecting new technology partners and manage new product introduction (NPI) processes, including APQP and PPAP, to ensure supplier readiness for launches. Analyze supplier quality and delivery metrics (KPIs) to identify performance gaps, lead root cause analysis and 8D corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement plans. Serve as the primary technical liaison among internal engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and external suppliers to resolve complex technical and quality issues. Develop and approve process controls for critical features of electronic components, provide feedback on manufacturing methods to improve yields and reduce waste, and coordinate audit activities. Ensure compliance with documentation and record‑keeping requirements, and provide training to suppliers on company quality policies and procedures. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field. 3–5years of experience in manufacturing or quality engineering within the electronics industry (PCB assembly, cable/harness manufacturing, or similar). Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification (preferred). Certified quality auditor and experience with data analysis tools and quality management software. In‑depth knowledge of quality management systems (ISO9001, IATF16949, AS9100) and quality methodologies such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, and 8D problem‑solving. Understanding of industry standards for electronics manufacturing (IPC‑A‑610, IPC/WHMA‑A‑620) and proficiency in reading complex engineering drawings and specifications.
