Human Resources Technology Specialist (1 Vacancy Eligibility List) Salary: $75,995.64 - $106,944.36 Annually Location: Palm Desert, CA Job Type: FULL TIME Job Number: 2500220 Division: Office of Human Resources & Employee Relations Department: Human Resources & Employee Relations Opening Date: 05/14/2026 Closing Date: 6/7/2026 11:59 PM Pacific Bargaining Unit: CSEA-California School Employees Association Description Responsible for the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) database, applicant tracking, onboarding, and performance evaluation systems. Performs complex technical duties, including data entry, database management, query creation, reporting, testing, documentation, and end‑user support. Responsibilities Provide a high level of collaboration and service to stakeholders. Plan, organize, and perform complex technical duties to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the HRIS and other HR databases. Enter new employee data; establish new positions; update and modify position, employee, and earning records. Compile and prepare data to produce technical reports in compliance with regulations and policies. Work with other departments and HR staff to recommend changes that resolve HRIS issues and improve business operations. Consult with users and vendors to diagnose and solve software and data related problems. Develop test strategies and validate changes to processes, tables, and rules. Document and maintain HR technology procedures manual; train HR staff. Maintain and train users on the District's performance evaluation system and online training modules. Provide end‑user assistance for the Applicant Tracking System and liaise with the SaaS provider. Assist in maintaining the HR webpage and posted documents. Identify placement of new and existing instructors on the adjunct salary schedule and manage related payroll issues. Maintain and update classified seniority list. Operate office machines and software applications. Provide backup support for greeting staff, students, and the public. Meet project timelines and manage multiple initiatives. Participate in professional development activities. Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education: Any combination equivalent to a Bachelor's degree and one year of experience or an Associate's degree and three years of experience in Human Resources Technology, including data entry, queries, and analysis. Knowledge of basic HR and payroll procedures, federal, state, and local regulations, telephone etiquette, database management, office equipment, word processing, spreadsheets, and email. Ability to enter and retrieve data quickly and accurately; compile, analyze, and summarize information; perform mathematical calculations; use independent judgment; read and explain technical materials; recommend system improvements; meet schedules; answer telephones; apply tact and diplomacy; maintain confidentiality and work independently. Experience interacting with end users and customers; ability to work in a collaborative environment. Employment Status Classified Bargaining Unit Position; Classified Staff Salary Range 16; Retirement System: CalPERS (upon meeting eligibility criteria). Salary placement is contingent on education, experience, and department budget. This posting is for 1 current vacancy and to establish a 6‑month eligibility list for future openings. Working Conditions Environment: Office environment with constant interruptions. Schedule & Location 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Primary location: Palm Desert Campus. Schedule and location may change based on District need.
