Paralegal Employment Type: Full‑Time, Mid‑Level Department: Legal CGS is seeking a dedicated Paralegal to join a fast‑paced and hard‑working team to support various aspects of the company’s portfolio. Responsibilities include: Provide professional, accurate, timely, and reliable paralegal support, reporting to the OGC and assisting LITB or IALB. Review work products prior to submission and develop with minimal supervision. Receive, prioritize, and process requests such as document review or requests for advice or legal technical assistance. Research and locate responsive information documents, identify relevant laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles. Perform moderately complex legal research, synthesize transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorneys, review case‑related materials, identify conflicting statements or areas for further investigation. Write preliminary drafts of legal memoranda and correspondence. Assist in preparing draft legal documents (motions, briefs, memoranda of law, exhibits, etc.); conduct legal analysis, review documents for relevance and privilege; assist attorneys with all phases of litigation. Review discovery materials for relevancy and privilege; prepare privilege logs; maintain documentation of records produced in discovery, correspondence sent, and case‑management functions performed. Assist in the drafting and issuing of preservation notices and litigation holds; design, generate, and transmit reports on case assignments and productivity using case‑management databases. Analyze and interpret customer requests; research, locate, and gather material relevant to DU requests including outreach and informal interviews to respond to discovery requests and interrogatories. Assist in preparation of declarations; scan paper materials to PDF; conduct legal privilege reviews using Veritas eDiscovery Platform, Adobe Pro, or other discovery review platforms provided by the FBI. Apply redactions to documents and media files; review peer work for accuracy and provide constructive edits. Support and collaborate in management efforts to foster teamwork, planning and decision making; organize and maintain accurate records of assigned requests including case notes, discovery work plans, use Microsoft Excel, and enter metrics into OGC‑LITB tracking database. Prepare electronic and/or paper releases for release to customers; provide professionalism and customer service to DU customers. Prioritize and schedule projects to accomplish objectives; assist in representation efforts of the FBI in challenging situations. Coordinate classification reviews with subject matter experts and perform overlays of material returned from classification review. Maintain close collaboration of projects with discovery team members; serve as consultant to government employees regarding privilege application and document production. Communicate with employees at all levels of the FBI to complete projects with professionalism; provide weekly statuses to management and periodic updates to Assistant General Counsels and other DU customers. Conduct searches of FBI systems and databases to retrieve relevant documents (e.g., Sentinel, Internal Policy Office Policy Library and Policy Archives). Perform legal and other research; support the Legal Hold program as well as the Freeze List; support tasks associated with information management/governance and technology and its intersection with the law. Qualifications: Paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA‑accredited law school with at least one year of study. At least two years of litigation paralegal experience (trial experience very helpful). At least one year of experience in automated litigation support; sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures and resources. Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw. Hands‑on familiarity with computer applications including word processing, databases (document review and filing systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems. Familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources. Ability to consistently deliver high‑quality work under extreme pressure.
