Job Title: Lead Maintenance Technician

Job Description

This full-time Lead Maintenance Technician role operates Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. You will take a hands-on lead in maintaining and troubleshooting production equipment, ensuring that machinery runs safely, reliably, and efficiently in a fast-paced yet friendly manufacturing environment. The role focuses on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, with a preference for experience on equipment used in corrugated paper box production.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on production machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and extend asset life.

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues to restore equipment to safe and efficient operation.

• Use multimeters and other diagnostic tools to test, diagnose, and verify electrical circuits, including 480-volt three-phase power systems.

• Read, interpret, and apply information from operation manuals, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics to perform accurate repairs and adjustments.

• Maintain, inspect, and repair conveyors, bearings, shaft gears, motors, AOD pumps, and related mechanical components.

• Support PLC maintenance activities, including basic troubleshooting and maintenance of PLC-controlled equipment.

• Assist with maintenance and adjustments on corrugated converters, flexographic presses, and similar machinery when applicable.

• Perform welding and basic fabrication tasks as needed to support equipment repair and modification.

• Collaborate closely with team members and other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure efficient production operations.

• Communicate effectively with management and team members across shifts to share status updates, issues, and improvement opportunities.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment by following safety procedures and housekeeping standards.

• Document maintenance activities accurately, including issues found, repairs performed, and parts used, to support continuous improvement and reliability.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5 years of machinery maintenance experience or proven competency in routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, including experience with AOD pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, shaft gears, motors, and conveyors.

• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including 480-volt three-phase power and electrical circuits.

• Experience identifying failed electrical and mechanical components and implementing effective corrective actions.

• Hands-on experience with maintenance and troubleshooting of PLC-controlled equipment.

• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics accurately.

• Proficiency using a multimeter and other diagnostic tools for electrical and electronic troubleshooting.

• Experience performing preventive maintenance on production machinery and equipment.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with management and team members across shifts.

• Ability to work safely and maintain a clean, organized work area in a fast-paced production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) license or certification (preferred but not required).

• Previous experience in a lead or supervisory maintenance role.

• Experience working with machinery used in corrugated paper box manufacturing, including corrugated converters and flexographic presses.

• Experience in maintenance and repair of equipment such as folder/gluers, platen die cutters, flexo folder/gluers, and rotary die cutters or similar machinery.

• Fabrication experience, including use of lathes and welding, such as arc or similar welding processes.

• Experience with PLC and VFD interfacing and troubleshooting.

• Relevant industry experience in box, paper, or related manufacturing environments.

• Ability to perform basic welding and fabrication to support equipment modifications and repairs.

• Comfort working with VFDS (variable frequency drives) and related control components.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing facility that produces corrugated paper boxes and related products. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., supporting a fast-paced yet friendly production environment. You will work around a variety of industrial equipment, including conveyors, AOD pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, bearings, shaft gears, corrugated converters, flexographic presses, folder/gluers, platen die cutters, flexo folder/gluers, and rotary die cutters or similar machinery. The equipment utilizes 480-volt three-phase power, PLC-controlled systems, and VFDs, requiring regular use of diagnostic tools such as multimeters and reference to mechanical and electrical schematics. The facility emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, with a strong focus on maintaining a safe and orderly workspace while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a production setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hillsboro, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.
