STRATEGIC PURCHASING DIRECTOR | BIOTECH

$170K - $220K, plus 25% bonus and equity Hybrid – 3 days in office Boston Area candidates only A rapidly growing Boston clinical‑stage biotechnology company located northwest of Downtown Boston is seeking a Director of Strategic Sourcing & Procurement to build and lead its procurement function from the ground up. This highly visible opportunity reports directly to the VP, Controller, where you will establish enterprise‑wide sourcing and procurement strategies, develop policies and SOPs, centralize purchasing across the organization, and serve as a strategic business partner to Clinical Operations, Manufacturing, R&D, Finance, and Legal. While this role is currently an individual contributor, it is expected to grow into a leadership position as the company scales. Key Responsibilities Build and implement the company’s strategic sourcing and procurement function Develop procurement policies, SOPs, and end‑to‑end purchasing processes Lead supplier sourcing, RFP/RFI/RFQ processes, contract negotiations, and vendor management Partner cross‑functionally to support clinical development, manufacturing, and commercial operations Conduct spend analysis, identify cost savings, and establish procurement KPIs Ensure SOX compliance and procurement governance across the organization Ideal Background 10+ years of strategic sourcing/procurement experience within biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences Experience building or transforming a procurement function in a high‑growth clinical‑stage environment Commercial biotech experience strongly preferred Deep knowledge of clinical trials, CRO/vendor management, clinical supply chain, and commercial manufacturing Proven ability to negotiate complex supplier agreements and influence senior stakeholders Strong understanding of procurement governance, compliance, and process improvement #J-18808-Ljbffr KBW Financial Staffing & Recruiting
