The Community Chinle, AZ The Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility (CCHCF) is based in Chinle, Arizona (Northeast Arizona near Canyon De Chelly National Monument). Strong Navajo cultural traditions exist within the community, offering an opportunity to learn the Navajo language or learn about traditional Navajo medicine. The service unit is located on the Colorado Plateau with excellent opportunities for photography, hiking, running, road biking, cross-country skiing, and mountain biking. Canyon de Chelly National Monument is within 5 miles of the hospital and is a wonderful place for exploring and sightseeing, running, and mountain biking. The CCHCF provides medical care for approximately 35,000 Navajo citizens. Serving a rural area, many of the patients travel 100 miles round trip to receive care and do not have electricity or running water in their homes. In addition, most of the elderly patients speak only Navajo and live according to traditional Navajo cultural practices. The CCHCF and Ambulatory Care Center is a 60-bed inpatient hospital and outpatient facility. Services offered include: Adult Inpatient, Labor & Delivery, Pharmacy, Adult Intensive Care, Mental Health, Physical Therapy, Anesthesiology, Nurse Phone Triage Services, Podiatry, Audiology, OB/GYN & Midwifery, Public Health, Dental, Occupational Therapy, Radiology, Emergency Medicine, Optometry, School Health, General Surgery, Outpatient Primary Care, Speech Pathology, Lab, Pediatric Inpatient, Women's Health Facility.

Responsibilities

• Services provided shall be performed in an inpatient and outpatient setting. Shall care for critically ill patients in the Emergency Room, Special Care Unit, and inpatient wards. Will coordinate care with specialists both within and outside of the I.H.S.
• The Physician shall see patients for general medicine problems including performing the history and physical exam, making electronic progress notes, scheduling return visits, writing orders for lab and x-ray, prescribing medications, etc.
• The Physician participates in quality management activities that pertain to his/her duties.
• In addition to the above clinical responsibilities, shall hold routine administrative duties.
• Shall participate in clinical conferences for staff and shall attend medical staff and service-level meetings.
• The Physician shall enter all medical documentation in the Computerized Patient Records Systems (CPRS) and electronically sign all.
• Telemedicine: Shall provide telemedicine services for patients with mild respiratory illness in the CSU Respiratory Clinic on site.
• Telephone: The physician shall provide telephone visits for patients in need of chronic care management for whom it would be high risk to travel to the hospital for care.

Requirements

• Must be Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). Recently completed Residents will be considered with ABIM/ABFM board eligibility.
• Must have current license to practice medicine in any state, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States of Columbia.
• Must have current certification in Basic Life Support at certified by the American Heart Association.
