Work Environment\n

This position allows the flexibility of a remote working environment, which enables our counselors to connect with clients effectively while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Working hours are typically Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, with occasional evenings or weekends as needed to accommodate client schedules. Utilizing telehealth technology, you will conduct virtual counseling sessions, ensuring that our clients receive the support they need from the comfort of their homes.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Assessment & Treatment: Provide comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans, including formulation of pre-crisis and crisis management strategies tailored to the geriatric population.

• Documentation: Complete all required documentation in a timely manner and adhere to organizational and regulatory standards to ensure compliance and quality assurance.

• Collaborative Care: Work alongside interdisciplinary teams to devise and implement effective positive behavior support plans that consider the unique circumstances of each client.

• Community Engagement: Serve as a liaison to relevant service systems, state agencies, and local community partners to enhance service delivery and resource availability for our clients.

• Continual Professional Development: Actively participate in licensing and accreditation processes, and pursue ongoing training opportunities, including attending relevant conferences and workshops.

• Agency Representation: Represent the agency in community meetings, task forces, and other collaborative endeavors to promote mental health awareness and support initiatives aligned with geriatric care.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role primarily focuses on senior clients aged 65 and older, helping them manage various age-related mental health issues, including grief, anxiety, and depression arising from significant life transitions. By employing a person-centered approach, you will create a safe and supportive environment that encourages open dialogue and fosters emotional healing.

Qualifications\n

• Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) licensure in New York.

• A minimum of 4 years of recent experience in geriatric mental health counseling, demonstrating proficiency in handling complex emotional challenges faced by seniors.
