THIS IS NOT A BASIC KITCHEN JOB

Grooves is looking for a strong kitchen leader who can both manage the kitchen operation and run the line during service . This role combines: Quality Control We need someone who can walk into a high-volume environment, take control, organize the kitchen, lead the team, and ensure food leaves the kitchen quickly, accurately, and consistently.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Kitchen Manager / Kitchen Commander is responsible for: Managing kitchen operations before, during, and after service Leading the line and controlling ticket flow during peak volume Ensuring all stations are fully prepped and set Maintaining food quality, consistency, cleanliness, and urgency Holding the kitchen accountable to standards and ticket times Helping build structure, systems, and kitchen discipline This person must be able to thrive under pressure while leading a high-energy kitchen environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

SERVICE LEADERSHIP

Run the expediting line during high-volume service Control ticket flow from start to finish Maintain ticket times within 12–15 minute targets Ensure every plate is accurate and properly presented Identify and solve bottlenecks in real time Maintain organization and urgency during peak hours

KITCHEN MANAGEMENT

Ensure kitchen setup is complete before service Verify all stations are stocked and fully prepared Taste and check food quality before service begins Oversee prep production and line readiness Monitor food consistency and portion standards Enforce kitchen cleanliness and organization Assist with inventory awareness and waste control Communicate staffing or operational issues to ownership

TEAM LEADERSHIP

Hold cooks and kitchen staff accountable Maintain discipline and professionalism in the kitchen Train and coach kitchen staff as needed Lead with urgency, communication, and confidence Create structure and consistency during service Minimum required availability: Must be available for: Evening service Closing responsibilities when needed

REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED:

Experience leading a kitchen team Strong expediting and ticket management skills Ability to stay calm under pressure Strong communication and leadership presence Strong sense of urgency and accountability Ability to multitask in fast-paced service environments

PREFERRED:

Sous Chef experience Experience managing brunch volume Experience with kitchen systems and organization

NOT A FIT IF YOU:

Get overwhelmed during busy service Avoid accountability or confrontation Lack urgency or leadership presence Cannot manage multiple priorities at once
