Accounting Assistant To The Director Of FinanceSaint Patrick Catholic School is currently seeking a Full-Time (12-month) Accounting Assistant.Founded in 2005, Saint Patrick Catholic School (Norfolk, Virginia) is an independent Catholic school with an enrollment of approximately 400 students in grades pre-kindergarten through eight. Boasting a vibrant and accomplished team of educators, the school encourages students to develop a growth mindset while creating an educational framework focused on reinforcing six "pillars" of education that support the whole formation of each student.The Accounting Assistant will support the Director of Finance with financial operations, including general ledger maintenance, monthly close, and audit support.Key Accounting Responsibilities:Support month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenanceReconciling A/P, A/R, cash disbursements and vendor payment supportCash receipts, deposits, and tuition payment supportPayroll and benefits accounting supportFixed asset and prepaid expense schedule supportRestricted funds, donation, pledge, and development activity supportAnnual audits and year-end documentation supportMaintain organized accounting records and supporting documentationAccounting Experience and Qualifications:Experienced bookkeeper, accounting assistant, or staff accountant backgroundStrong working knowledge of basic accounting procedures, journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger activityExperience preparing financial reports and supporting schedules for review by a finance leaderExperience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposits, payroll accounting support, and month-end closeStrong Excel and Google Sheet skills and comfort working with accounting reports, reconciliations, and schedulesNonprofit, school, church, or mission-based accounting experience preferredAbility to follow established procedures and maintain accurate, well-organized documentationStrong attention to detail, confidentiality, and recurring deadline managementProfessional communication skills when working with staff, families, vendors, auditors, and external advisorsRole Scope:This position is intended to assist and report to the Director of Finance. The Accounting Assistant may prepare financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
