Sales Engineer

Compensation: Base + Bonus Employment Type: Full-time, permanent Sector: Industrial Automation / Electrical Controls / OEM The Opportunity An established industrial automation and electrical controls business is looking to appoint an OEM Sales Specialist – Low Voltage Controls to support continued growth within its OEM and panel-builder customer base. This is a highly customer-focused position aimed at developing relationships, increasing customer engagement and identifying new commercial opportunities across an established territory. Rather than being driven by an individual sales quota, the role focuses on customer activity, relationship development, opportunity identification and growth within targeted OEM accounts . The successful candidate will work alongside experienced Sales Engineers, providing an additional level of customer engagement while developing specialist expertise in low voltage control products. You will spend the majority of your time working directly with OEMs, panel builders and related industrial customers, with responsibilities including: Develop and maintain a consistent programme of customer visits across the assigned territory. Build strong relationships with OEMs, panel shops, purchasing teams and other key customer contacts. Conduct customer meetings focused on low voltage control products and applications. Identify new projects, applications, competitive conversions and potential sales opportunities. Follow up on opportunities generated through customer visits and ensure they continue to progress. Work alongside Sales Engineers to identify broader automation, controls and software opportunities. Develop targeted sales initiatives and campaigns around low voltage control products. Become a trusted product resource through ongoing technical training and mentoring. Provide feedback on local product demand, stocking requirements and emerging customer needs. Work closely with internal operations and support teams to resolve customer-specific requirements, urgent orders and special requests. Support customers throughout the sales process and contribute to long-term account development. Primarily focus on the local territory while providing support to other offices and markets where required. You will ideally have: Previous experience in industrial sales, manufacturing, electrical distribution, panel building, automation or a related technical environment . Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. The confidence to engage with a wide range of customer contacts, from purchasing teams to technical and operational personnel. A self-motivated approach and the ability to independently plan and manage a high level of customer activity. Technical aptitude and a genuine interest in developing expertise in industrial low voltage control products. The ability to identify opportunities beyond a customer's immediate product requirement. Strong follow-up and organisational skills. The ability to work collaboratively within an established sales and account-management structure. A willingness to travel regularly throughout the local territory.
