What To Expect (Essential Job Responsibilities)

• Collaborate with nursing and providers when patient parameters are abnormal or critical.
• Provide ongoing monitoring, reporting and documentation of cardiac rhythms.
• Ongoing, consistent communication with staff regarding changes in customer's patient vital and cardiac rhythms.
• Take rhythm strip of all patients on monitors, mount it, measure rate, PR intervals, and QRS complexes, as well as measure QT intervals.
• Observe monitor for any arrhythmias, including those not picked up by alarm or computer, atrial arrhythmias, blocks, increase of QT interval, etc. reports abnormalities to nurse caring for patient and reports to nurses anything unusual or any changes in rhythm.
• Label and distribute trend reports for each patient; sign off on all arrhythmia checks.
• Serve as a subject matter resource for other monitoring resources as needed.
• Provide guidance and shift-level supervision to other monitoring resources as needed to support patient safety, workflow continuity, and service delivery.
• Train, mentor, and guide new or existing monitoring resources on rhythm recognition, vital-sign trend review, documentation, escalation protocols, monitoring workflows, and customer-specific requirements.
• Support competency development by providing coaching, real-time feedback, and escalation support for monitoring resources, notifying management of training, performance, staffing, or quality concerns.

Miscellaneous Job Responsibilities

• Assist with the technical and non-technical aspects of cardiac monitoring of patients over age 18 who are on Vios Monitoring Services.
• Knowledgeable in all the functions of heart rhythm and vital sign change recognition with clear verbal and written communication of associated changes.
• Assist with onboarding support, workflow adherence, quality review follow-up, documentation improvement, and process improvement activities as requested.
• Support other monitoring resources during customer go-live activities, high-census periods, staffing gaps, or other operational needs as assigned.

What Is Required (Qualifications)

• Coursework completed in a medical-related field such as nursing assistant, medical assistant, rhythm interpretation, or a related field.
• 10+ years' experience as a cardiac technician with knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare data practices, and cardiac anatomy and physiology.
• Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) or Cardiac Rhythm Monitoring certification (CRAT). Required to meet the qualifications and obtain certification within 60 days of employment. 
• HIPPA compliance for Protected Health Information (PHI) required.
• Prior experience serving as a senior technician, lead technician, trainer, or shift resource for other monitoring staff.
• Advanced working knowledge of basic, intermediate, and life-threatening cardiac rhythms, special equipment used in cardiac testing, computers, and medical terminology.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Attention to detail, including meticulously and accurately labeling data to ensure high-quality data sets.
• Excellent organizational, communication, writing, flexibility, and listening skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
• Ability to train, mentor, and provide shift-level supervision to other monitoring resources while maintaining direct monitoring responsibilities.
