Design Engineer

National Oilwell Varco (NOV) has an immediate opening at its Dayton, Ohio office for a Design Engineer to support its industrial mixing equipment product lines. The Dayton officer is the design center for NOV’s Chemineer rotating mixers and Prochem belt driven mixers. The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design and detailing of mixing products with emphasis on customer needs, quality, budget, safety and on-time delivery.RESPONSIBILITIESInterpreting customer supplied drawings to define customer needsPerforming calculations to ensure designs are of the highest quality and longest lifeCreating parts, assemblies and drawings using Solidworks 3D CAD softwareCreating part numbers and bills of material in Teamcenter product lifecycle management softwareWorking with manufacturing engineers and suppliers to ensure designs are in line with factory capabilities and core competenciesProviding engineering support to machinists and assemblers on the shop floorExecuting engineering changes to legacy productsDomestic and international travel may be required QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degreeExperience with the selection and implementation of power transmission components in machine designExperience designing industrial machinery (rotating equipment a plus)Proficiency using Solidworks 3D CAD softwareFamiliarity with EPDM Product Data Management softwareA working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)Experience creating part numbers and bills of materialCOMPETITIVE BENEFITS: (visit usbenefits.nov.com for more information about our benefits offerings)401(k) Retirement Plan – NOV matches every dollar up to 5% of base pay and overtime for every dollar you invest.Competitive medical plans that are effective your date of hire.
