Assistant Project Manager

Summary/Objective:

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) bridges technical and managerial responsibilities, executes tasks with increasing ownership and provides support to Project Managers (PMs) and Senior Project Managers (Sr. PMs). The APM will engage with vendors, partners, and customers, develop project documentation, and coordinate field and office operations.

Relationship Development

• Contact and follow up with vendors and partners to support project goals.
• Build rapport with customers under PM direction.
• Draft team structure, project logistics, and approach summaries for PM review.

Communication & Coordination

• Serve as a liaison between project teams and stakeholders.
• Run smaller meetings and record notes accurately in Procore
• Help prepare and distribute status reports to stakeholders.
• Coordinates daily and weekly activities with supers and partners.

Planning, Scheduling & Project Close-Out

• Complete initial project setup in Procore—update directories, assign roles, upload documents, create meeting events, and configure distribution lists with PM guidance.
• Support creation and distribution of JHA and Site Specific Safety Plan; track certifications and training completion.
• Build and update master project schedules and 3-week look-ahead in Procore with input from PM.
• Develop and maintain WBS and MOPs with some independence.
• Prepare and log submittals, RFIs, and responses in Procore under PM supervision.
• Manages portions of the close-out process with guidance.

Profit, Budgeting & Procurement Management

• Help PM organize budget by cost code and enter data in Procore.
• Track costs and progress against budget, with supervision.
• Review and code timesheets and vendor invoices; confirm accuracy against budgets and PO values; submit to PM for approval. Draft and manage change orders with PM guidance.
• Order materials and monitor delivery with vendor follow-up.

Constructability, Quality & Safety

• Monitor work and help resolve minor quality issues.
• Lead inspections under PM guidance and document findings.
• Track safety logs and collaborate with the safety team.

Contract, Risk & Compliance Management

• File and organize owner contracts and amendments in Procore; track revisions and distribute updates to the team.
• Draft and submit change orders for PM review; track approvals and maintain communication with vendors and clients.
• Communicate with vendors to confirm pricing and scope.
• Update risk logs and assist with mitigation planning.
• Help manage permit records and compliance logs.

Talent Management and Team Collaboration

• Delegate daily activities with supervision.
• Contribute to positive and respectful team culture.
• Help allocate team members to meet project deadlines.
• Provide informal feedback and accept coaching from PMs.

Travel:

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

This role operates in both office and field environments. Field work may involve exposure to extreme weather, construction sites, and potentially hazardous materials. Ability to walk, stand, and climb stairs/ladders on job sites; lift up to 20 lbs; maneuver in small or confined spaces.

Position Type:

This is a full-time position.

Required Education and Experience:

1. High School Diploma and/or equivalent education and experience;
2. 1+ years of project management or construction-related experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Applied Science, or related field.
• Commercial contracting experience, preferably in the data center or mission-critical space.

Compu Dynamics Pay Range

$65,000—$105,000 USD
