Production Operator - Chemical Plant

About the Role Our client, a significant chemical manufacturing company, is seeking a diligent and safety-conscious Production Operator to join their team in Welkom, Free State . This role involves operating and monitoring chemical production processes, ensuring adherence to strict safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in a chemical plant environment or a similar industrial setting, a strong understanding of process operations, and a commitment to maintaining a safe workplace. You will be responsible for executing production tasks efficiently, responding to process deviations, and contributing to the overall smooth operation of the plant. This position is essential for maintaining our client's production output and commitment to safety in Welkom . This is a non-remote, on-site role requiring your presence and active participation. Key Responsibilities Operate and monitor chemical plant equipment and control systems. Perform routine checks and adjustments to maintain optimal process conditions. Follow detailed operating procedures and batch instructions accurately. Identify and report any process upsets, anomalies, or safety hazards. Conduct basic laboratory tests to monitor product quality. Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to strict housekeeping standards. Assist in the loading and unloading of raw materials and finished products. Participate in safety drills and training sessions. Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations. Work collaboratively with supervisors and fellow operators to achieve production goals. Requirements Previous experience as a Production Operator in a chemical plant or related industrial environment is highly desirable. Understanding of chemical processes and equipment operation. A strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to procedures. Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, if required. Basic mathematical and analytical skills for process monitoring. Good communication and teamwork abilities. Must be physically fit and able to perform manual tasks as needed. Residency or willingness to relocate to Welkom, Free State for on-site work. Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) is a plus. A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent is preferred.
