Job Title: Construction General Laborer Job Description

This role provides hands-on construction labor support across multiple locations, with a primary focus on operating a street sweeper and assisting with general site tasks. You will work outdoors on active construction sites, support daily operations, and receive training on additional machinery such as excavators as you grow in the role.

Responsibilities

• Operate the street sweeper safely and efficiently across various construction sites.

• Perform general construction labor tasks, including site cleanup, debris removal, and material handling.

• Use power tools and hand tools to support construction activities as directed.

• Assist with concrete work, including basic preparation, handling, and cleanup.

• Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment to support daily project needs.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.

• Follow all safety guidelines and site protocols while working on active construction sites.

• Participate in training to learn how to operate additional machinery such as excavators.

• Communicate clearly and respectfully with supervisors and coworkers, responding positively to direction.

• Travel between multiple locations as needed to support operations across the region.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of construction labor experience.

• Experience working on active construction sites and familiarity with construction site practices.

• Ability to operate and work safely with power tools and hand tools.

• Capability to perform physical labor, including lifting, loading, and prolonged outdoor work.

• Basic knowledge of concrete work, including handling and cleanup.

• Strong willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities.

• Positive, respectful attitude and openness to direction and feedback.

• Reliable work habits with the ability to travel between multiple job sites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• OSHA 30 certification is a plus but not required.

• Interest in learning to operate heavy equipment such as excavators.

• Demonstrated growth mindset and eagerness to develop new construction skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment on busy job sites.

Work Environment

This position is entirely field-based, working outdoors across multiple construction locations ranging from Westbury in the west to Eastport in the east. You will spend most of your time on active construction sites, operating equipment such as a street sweeper and supporting general labor tasks in varying weather conditions. The workday involves travel between different sites as needed, collaboration with on-site crews, and adherence to established safety procedures and construction site protocols.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westbury, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
