Domain Owner — Core Banking

Role Description

The Domain Owner for Core Banking is the senior product leader responsible for the strategic direction, squad output, and commercial outcomes of the Core Banking domain at Nymbus.

• Lead multiple squads that build and evolve the core banking engine.
• Manage Builders directly, collaborate daily with Architects and Shippers assigned to your domain.
• Accountable for everything your domain ships.
• Operate with four capabilities: strategic product leadership, people leadership of Builders, domain subject matter expertise, and AI-first execution.
• Hands-on SME in core banking systems.

• Manages Builders and drives commercial outcomes.
• Ensures squad output meets quality and velocity standards.
• Coordinates with Architects on data models and platform integrity.
• Coordinates with Shippers on acceptance criteria and production stability.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

• Strategic Product Leadership:
  • Owns and executes on the product roadmap for the Core Banking domain.
  • Define the vision for a modern, configurable, multi-tenant core banking engine.
  • Prioritize squad work against business outcomes, client needs, and platform strategy.
  • Represent the domain in executive planning and client conversations.
  • Drive commercial outcomes impacting client relationships.
• People Leadership (Builder Management):
  • Hire, develop, and performance-manage all Builders in the Core Banking domain.
  • Set clear expectations for AI-first execution and delivery velocity.
  • Coach Builders on domain expertise.
  • Build a team culture of precision and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure Builders operate at the Nymbus hiring bar and AI fluency standard.
• Domain Subject Matter Expertise:
  • Serve as the authoritative SME for core banking within Nymbus.
  • Design account hierarchies and posting models.
  • Understand batch processing and end-of-day settlement.
  • Define product configuration logic for deposit products.
  • Address data integrity and operational controls for regulatory reporting.
• AI Execution:
  • Model AI-first working practices for the domain.
  • Set the standard for how Builders leverage AI tools.
  • Drive continuous improvement in squad velocity through AI-native methodology.
• Cross-Domain Coordination:
  • Coordinate with other Domain Owners on integration surfaces.
  • Own the contract between Core and its consumers.
  • Partner with the Architecture Spine on platform-wide patterns.
  • Collaborate with COEs on standards compliance.

Qualifications

• Active, hands-on experience with AI-assisted product design and development workflows.
• 8+ years in product, engineering, or technical leadership roles in core banking or financial services infrastructure.
• Deep hands-on experience with core banking platforms.
• Expert-level understanding of ledger structures and posting models.
• Experience with loan servicing systems and batch processing.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting core operations.
• Experience navigating tradeoffs between configurability, correctness, and performance.
• Experience managing and developing product builders or engineers.
• Strong understanding of database design and transaction processing.
