Description

American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN for a combined PCU/Medical-Surgical unit with a neuro patient focus, requiring ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications and Epic experience.

Details

• Combined PCU and Medical-Surgical unit with floating between the two required
• Emphasis on neurological patients with overflow patients from other populations
• Patient population includes pre/post neurosurgery and seizure disorder cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-5 depending on acuity
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Requires training on EMU (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit) for monitoring and interviewing epilepsy patients
• Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
• 18-week contract assignment

Requirements

• Active Compact or Kentucky State RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in specialty required
• 1 year of experience in EMU (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit) preferred, conditional pass available if EMU skillset is limited
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• At least 1 professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to patients with neurological, seizure, and pre/post neurosurgical conditions in a stepdown/telemetry setting
• Perform cardiac monitoring and manage dysrhythmias as part of daily responsibilities
• Required to work a minimum of 3 out of 5 major holidays
• All requested time off must be disclosed at time of consideration; requests made after offer will not be approved
• Local candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Previous permanent staff must have been separated from all University of Kentucky-affiliated facilities for at least 6 months before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
