Position Overview Delgado Community College Police Department seeks a Police Officer II to maintain safety for all college community members. Candidates must hold an active Louisiana Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification. Qualifications One year of law enforcement experience. Each 30 semester hours earned at an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of experience. Minimum age of 18 years. Possession of a current Louisiana driver’s license. Active POST certification may be required. Applicants with felony convictions or pending felony charges will be disqualified until relief is granted. Job Duties Patrol campus areas on foot and in vehicles to maintain a safe and secure environment. Respond promptly to calls for assistance, emergencies, suspicious activity, and safety concerns. Enforce state laws, traffic regulations, and college policies, issuing warnings and citations when appropriate. Conduct investigations of incidents, accidents, and reported criminal activity, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. Prepare accurate reports and documentation related to incidents, investigations, and daily activities. Provide security services such as building and parking lot checks, classroom security, and safety escorts upon request. Assist individuals in emergency situations by rendering first aid and coordinating medical or emergency response services. Monitor campus traffic and promote safe driving practices throughout campus property. Communicate and coordinate with dispatchers, emergency personnel, and outside law enforcement agencies as needed. Position Details Appointment Type: Probational. Compensation: Special Entrance Rate of $19.88 hourly for this position. Location: Must be available at all Delgado Community College locations and shifts as required. Pre‑appointment requirements include criminal background check and reference verification, pre‑employment verification for salary purposes, drug test, and E‑Verify employment eligibility verification.
