Direct Counsel is representing an established civil litigation defense firm seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney to join its growing Orange County practice . This is a full-time position offering hands-on litigation experience, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to work closely with experienced litigators and trial attorneys.

The ideal candidate will have 3–7 years of civil litigation experience , preferably involving personal injury defense, premises liability, products liability, transportation, habitability, or related defense matters. Candidates should be comfortable managing cases through all stages of litigation and taking meaningful ownership of their matters.

Responsibilities

• Handle a diverse caseload of civil defense litigation matters, including personal injury, premises liability, products liability, transportation, and habitability claims
• Manage cases through all phases of litigation, including written discovery, depositions, motion practice, settlement, and trial preparation
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other litigation documents
• Take and defend depositions
• Appear at court hearings, settlement conferences, and mediations
• Review and analyze documents for relevance, privilege, liability, and overall case strategy
• Prepare exhibits and case materials for depositions, hearings, and trials
• Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel
• Work with partners and senior attorneys to develop effective litigation strategies and achieve favorable client outcomes

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
• Active California Bar membership in good standing
• 3–7 years of civil litigation experience
• Experience in one or more of the following areas preferred:
  • Personal injury defense
  • Premises liability
  • Products liability
  • Transportation litigation
  • Habitability litigation
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
• Working knowledge of California civil procedure and court filing requirements
• Ability to independently manage multiple matters, priorities, and deadlines
• Strong communication and client-service skills
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative litigation team

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $130,000–$175,000 , depending on experience
