Commercial Roofing Estimator

Overview

A leading commercial roofing contractor is seeking an experienced Commercial Roofing Estimator to support the successful pursuit of large-scale roofing projects. This role is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates for commercial roofing projects, including new construction and roof replacement.

The Role

The Commercial Roofing Estimator will lead the estimating process from initial plan review through bid submission, ensuring all project costs are accurately captured and aligned with project requirements. This role partners closely with sales, operations, project management, manufacturers, and subcontractors to develop competitive proposals while identifying opportunities to improve value and reduce project risk.

Success in this role means consistently delivering accurate estimates, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and helping position projects for successful execution.

Responsibilities

• Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop a complete understanding of project scope.
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and develop accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
• Coordinate with vendors, manufacturers, and subcontractors to obtain pricing and confirm system requirements.
• Support scope alignment and participate in pricing and contract negotiations for negotiated projects.
• Identify project risks, scope gaps, assumptions, and exclusions during the estimating process.
• Develop value engineering recommendations to improve project cost efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
• Collaborate with sales, operations, and project management teams to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project execution.
• Conduct site visits as needed to verify existing conditions and improve estimate accuracy.
• Maintain organized bid documentation and estimating records within company systems.
• Support estimating best practices and contribute to continuous process improvement across the estimating team.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of commercial roofing estimating experience.
• Experience estimating large, complex commercial roofing projects , including new construction and roof replacement.
• Strong knowledge of major commercial roofing systems and manufacturers.
• Experience working with vendors, manufacturers, and subcontractors.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

• 5-10+ years of commercial roofing estimating experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field .
• Experience using Edge Estimating software.
• Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce or HubSpot .
