Wholesale Solar Sales & Business Development

Exel Solar is a solar wholesale and distribution company based in Columbus, Ohio. We work with developers, EPCs, Installers, Roofers and contractors across the country on residential, commercial and utility-scale projects. What sets us apart isn't a warehouse. It's that we stay in front of the policy and supply conditions that decide whether a project pencils: ITC qualification, FEOC restrictions, domestic content thresholds and shifting tariff exposure. Our customers come to us because we help them pick product that clears compliance and lands on budget. What the role We're hiring a Sales & Business Development Rep to own new business development and account growth. You'll be working real projects with real timelines — sourcing the opportunity, understanding the technical and compliance requirements, building the quote, and carrying it through to a closed order. What you’ll do Build and work a pipeline of solar developers, EPCs, and commercial contractors Run outbound: calls, email sequences, LinkedIn, trade shows, and follow‑up on inbound quote requests Qualify projects — system size, timeline, financing structure, compliance requirements Build quotes and estimates in partnership with our procurement team Advise customers on module, inverter, and racking selection against domestic content, FEOC, and tariff requirements (we'll train you on this — you don't need to walk in knowing it) Keep the CRM clean and current; we run on Apollo and hold ourselves to real activity metrics Own the relationship after the first order — repeat business is where this role compounds What we’re looking for 2 years experience, knowledge and contacts in the solar industry. 2 years in B2B sales, ideally in solar, electrical, construction materials, or another technical distribution channel Comfortable doing outbound — this is not an order‑taking seat Able to hold a technical conversation with an engineer or project manager and not get lost Organized enough to track dozens of open quotes without dropping one Curious about policy and market conditions; the rules in this industry change constantly and the reps who track them win deals Willing to travel for trade shows and customer visits Bachelor's degree preferred, not required Nice to have Existing relationships with developers or EPCs Familiarity with module and inverter specs, domestic content and FEOC requirements Experience with a CRM and structured sales sequencing What we offer Depending on experience we are offering up to $80k base + commission.
