We are seeking an experienced Executive Director of Emergency Services, Nursing Operations to provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple hospital locations in Des Moines, IA.

This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, safety, employee engagement, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and strong leadership across Emergency Services and Nursing Operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the overall operations of Emergency Services and Nursing Operations.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets and financial resources.
• Lead, coach, mentor, and support department managers and leaders.
• Develop staffing plans and ensure effective care delivery.
• Monitor quality, patient safety, patient experience, and clinical outcomes.
• Partner with physicians, hospital leaders, and other service lines.
• Support regulatory compliance and specialty designations, including trauma and stroke programs.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, patient flow, and care coordination.
• Drive leadership development and succession planning.
• Use evidence-based practices and performance data to support operational improvements.
• Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in emergency response and disaster recovery leadership as needed.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare, Business, or a related field required.
• Current Iowa RN license required.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible management experience in a hospital, outpatient, or clinical environment.
• Proven experience improving clinical, operational, or organizational outcomes.
• Strong leadership, communication, people-development, and program-management skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certification relevant to the position.
• Experience in Emergency Services, Nursing Operations, or acute-care leadership.
• Experience with trauma, stroke, or other specialty program designations.
• Experience with strategic planning, budgeting, and multidisciplinary leadership.
