Title Adjunct Faculty, Engineering – Austin Community College Summary Prepare and deliver engineering coursework in engaging, innovative, and culturally responsive ways that reflect a commitment to student success and equity. Principal Responsibilities Prepare and teach courses in Engineering to a multicultural student population based on department‑approved learning outcomes, using a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to community‑college students. Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations. Provide teaching and mentoring services to students in a manner that does not discriminate based on protected categories. Remain current in the field through professional development activities. Perform other related tasks as assigned by department chair, dean, or higher administration. Demonstrate proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and a learning management system such as Blackboard to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties. Professional Standards Meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final course grades. Maintain regular office hours to assist students and improve retention and success. Recognize and reflect standards of civility and collegiality in all interactions. Comply with published college policies and meet professional teaching standards for a community college. Use the college’s learning management system appropriately. Educational Requirements Master's degree in Engineering; or Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Engineering. Work Conditions Work is routinely performed in an office/classroom environment. Tasks include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; lifting up to 10 pounds.
