Shipping and Receiving Associate

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Associate to support a growing manufacturing operation in Sandston, VA. This position is responsible for coordinating incoming and outgoing shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring products are prepared and shipped according to quality and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, enjoys working in a fast-paced setting, and takes pride in maintaining an organized, safe, and efficient shipping operation. Candidates should have forklift experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work closely with production, operations, and management teams to ensure customer deadlines are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities to support production and customer delivery schedules.
• Verify that shipments are accurately staged and prepared at least 24 hours prior to scheduled shipment.
• Inspect outgoing shipments for accuracy, quality, and compliance with customer specifications.
• Perform quality checks throughout the shipping process to ensure products meet company standards.
• Complete shipping documentation, inventory records, testing paperwork, and required reports.
• Utilize inventory and warehouse management systems to accurately track materials and finished goods.
• Support inventory control activities, including cycle counts, inventory adjustments, and stock reconciliation.
• Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload, transport, and stage materials.
• Coordinate with production, operations, and management to ensure shipping goals and deadlines are achieved.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment while following all company safety policies.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives that enhance warehouse efficiency and inventory accuracy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Minimum 2 years of forklift operating experience.
• Inventory control experience preferred.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Basic math skills with the ability to perform inventory calculations accurately.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Comfortable learning new computer systems and inventory software.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing shipping department.
• Experience with inventory management or ERP systems.
• Previous experience participating in inventory cycle counts.
• Knowledge of shipping documentation and warehouse best practices.
• Experience working in quality-focused manufacturing environments.
