Overview

A well-established construction equipment and supply company is seeking a motivated and results-driven Product Support Sales Representative to support customers throughout an assigned territory.

This is a territory-based outside sales role focused on growing aftermarket revenue through parts, service, preventative maintenance programs, telematics, extended warranties, and other product support solutions. The position combines relationship development, technical sales, and customer service, with a strong focus on supporting customers throughout the lifecycle of their equipment.

The Role

The Product Support Sales Representative will develop relationships with both existing and prospective customers, identifying opportunities to support their ongoing equipment service, maintenance, and parts requirements.

This is not an office-based position. While the role is associated with the company's Addison, Illinois location, the representative does not need to report to the office regularly and will primarily work throughout the assigned territory meeting with customers and supporting their equipment needs.

Success in this role means increasing product support sales, developing long-term customer relationships, maintaining strong follow-up after equipment sales and repairs, and identifying additional opportunities for both the service and equipment sales teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop sales opportunities for service, parts, preventative maintenance packages, telematics, extended warranties, and other aftermarket solutions.
• Build and maintain relationships with existing customers while identifying and developing new accounts.
• Conduct post-sale follow-up on equipment purchases, provide machine overviews, and identify future aftermarket and warranty opportunities.
• Follow up with customers following equipment repairs to ensure satisfaction and identify additional service needs.
• Generate service opportunities by promoting machine inspections, repair services, customized maintenance programs, and scheduled maintenance.
• Promote parts programs including filters, hardware, hoses, couplings, lubricants, repair parts, wear parts, and other equipment components.
• Identify potential equipment sales opportunities and refer qualified leads to the appropriate heavy equipment sales representative.
• Gather customer and equipment information and maintain accurate account, activity, lead, and opportunity records within the CRM.
• Work closely with Service Managers and other internal teams to coordinate customer requirements and deliver responsive support.
• Contribute ideas for marketing and promotional initiatives that can support product support sales growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or 1–2 years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas is beneficial: product support, parts, service, inside sales, outside sales, construction, warehouse, or equipment delivery.
• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Comfortable with outside sales, prospecting, and developing new business opportunities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to understand technical information and communicate equipment, service, and parts solutions effectively to customers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to independently manage customer relationships and sales activity throughout an assigned territory.
• Comfortable using CRM systems to document customer interactions, leads, and opportunities.
• Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Nice to Have

• Previous heavy equipment, construction equipment, or machinery industry experience.
• Experience selling parts, service agreements, maintenance programs, or aftermarket solutions.
• Previous outside sales or territory management experience.
• Existing relationships within the local construction or contractor market.
• Familiarity with construction equipment maintenance and service requirements.

Salary

Competitive base salary + bonus eligibility.

Location

Illinois / Greater Chicagoland Territory, Chicago Downtown, I-80 Corridor, Wauconda area, McHenry area.

This is an outside sales / territory-based position. Regular attendance at the office is not required. The Product Support Sales Representative will primarily work throughout the assigned territory, meeting with customers and developing parts, service, maintenance, and aftermarket sales opportunities.
