RN Respiratory Telemetry

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse will provide specialized nursing care primarily on the Respiratory unit, caring for patients including those with COVID-19, and occasionally float to various Med-Surg units such as Wound Care, Stroke, Oncology, Cardiac, and Emergency Department boarders. The role requires strong clinical skills in telemetry and stepdown care, proficiency in Epic EMR, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes during night shifts. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients on the Respiratory unit and various medical-surgical units.
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and stepdown patient data accurately.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
• Document patient care accurately and timely using Epic EMR system.
• Adhere to infection control protocols, especially for COVID-19 patients.
• Participate in shift handoffs and communicate patient status changes.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in Ohio.
• Minimum of 3 years recent/current experience in Telemetry and/or Stepdown nursing.
• Proficiency in Epic EMR system with no refresher or 1:1 training options.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry monitoring.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working with diverse medical-surgical patient populations including Wound Care, Stroke, Oncology, and Cardiac units.
• Prior experience in respiratory care or COVID-19 patient management.

Special Considerations:

• Night shift work from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM with every other weekend required.
• No on-call requirements for this position.
• Strict competency testing on telemetry skills and Epic EMR proficiency on day one; failure results in termination.
• Floating between units as needed, including Med-Surg and Emergency Department boarders.

Scheduling:

• 36 hours per week, night shift schedule.
• Shift times: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Every other weekend shift required.
• Start dates limited to November 4th or November 16th unless returning traveler within 9 months.
