We seek employees who bring different and innovative ways of seeing the world and solving problems.ResponsibilitiesAbstract cancer cases in compliance with CoC and WSCR guidelines and requirementsProvide support in case finding and follow upsAbility to determine case reportabilityAssist in concurrent data collection for Rapid Cancer Reporting System (RCRS)Attend monthly Cancer Registry meeting and participate in abstraction and reportability discussionParticipate in monthly SEER Educate trainingWork with team members to resolve any abstraction discrepanciesAssist in release of information that meets HIPAA guidelinesGenerate suspense reportsProvide inputs to the Cancer Registry departmental reference materialsAssist in preparation for CoC SurveyOther duties as assignedQualificationsRequired:Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experienceOncology Data Specialist (ODS)2+ years of experience working in Cancer Registry preferably in hospital settingMust have in depth knowledge and understanding of NAACCR data items, Solid Tumor Rules, AJCC staging guidelines, and SEER rules and standards.Ability to utilize cancer registry resources such as CAForum and SEER InquiriesAbility to understand, analyze, and interpret medical and treatment informationExcellent time management, attention to details, and organizational skillsCritical and analytical thinkingProficient in Microsoft office applicationsStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong dedication to team successCapable of working and making decisions independentlyPreferred:Experience working in hospital Cancer Registry settingKnowledge of CNEXT databaseExperience with Epic electronic medical record systemThe hourly pay range for this position is from $33.42 to $50.12 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Most Fred Hutch jobs require some on-campus work. However, there may be flexibility for certain positions.
