Job Description
Step into a meaningful, full-time contract role working with students in the New Orleans area as a school social worker specializing in pupil appraisal. You'll play an essential part in evaluating and supporting the needs of children and adolescents, ensuring they receive the educational services they require to thrive. Starting as soon as possible and continuing through the end of May 2027, you’ll spend 35 hours each week embedded with a collaborative team. This assignment is itinerant, supporting 2 to 3 schools and focusing on comprehensive appraisal rather than direct services.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid Louisiana Department of Education certification and professional license as a Social Worker
Prior experience in pupil appraisal or multidisciplinary educational teams is ideal
Strong background in evaluation, re-evaluations, and student interventions for Special Education eligibility
Ability to coordinate and interpret results with School Psychologists and Educational Diagnosticians
Excellent organizational skills to cover multiple campuses and manage varying caseloads
Proficiency in attending and contributing to SBLC (School Building Level Committee) and ABIT (Academic Behavior Intervention Team) meetings
Willingness to complete time-sensitive credentialing, including district-specific background check and drug screening
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough evaluations and re-evaluations for Special Education qualification
Perform testing and assessments, monitor interventions, and maintain detailed records
Attend and participate in team meetings focused on academic and behavioral interventions
Liaise with multidisciplinary professionals, school personnel, and families
Travel between assigned campuses as needed to fulfill your role
