Registered Nurse (RN) - Day Shift Job Description The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring that the nursing care plan is executed effectively. This role involves supervising Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while embodying the Select Medical Way and Core Values, focused on superior quality, teamwork, and safety. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans. Identify teaching needs and goals related to patient diagnoses through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team. Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and responses in compliance with policy. Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and provide direct patient care utilizing the nursing process. Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission, anticipating discharge needs. Communicate changes in patient status among healthcare providers to support continuity of care. Supervise ancillary nursing personnel, providing direction, training, and support as needed. Contribute positively to the unit’s functioning, aiding in team building and maintaining a supportive work environment. Maintain communication with management regarding service needs including supplies and training for efficient care delivery. Assume charge responsibilities as needed and engage in professional development opportunities. Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure BLS Certification required prior to first shift. ACLS Certification required prior to first shift (CIRH only). Minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience highly desired.
