Medication Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:Scroll down to find the complete details of the job offer, including experience required and associated duties and tasks.The Medication Coordinator is responsible for ensuring processes and procedures related to wellness and resident medications are implemented accurately. This staff member has a high level of responsibility and will conduct consistent monitoring and tracking, will ensure medications are accurate and complete prior to distributing to staff, oversee the disposal of expired medications, connect with physician offices on scripts and orders, utilize the online electronic health portal and online pharmacy for medications, process scripts, and be a strong team collaborator with program staff, guardians, team members, and physicians.This person is expected to demonstrate a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and grow, and provide approachable guidance and technical support to direct care staff. The Medication Coordinator reports to the Chief Compliance Officer. COMPENSATION:This is an hourly paid position $20.00 per hour. A lucrative vacation and sick time package, along with employee benefits are available.QUALIFICATIONS:? At least 21 years of age? Degree in a related field and/or 2 years' experience with adults who have intellectual disabilities in a community setting? Have basic knowledge of medical terminology and compliance practices? A good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office required? Experience with Oasis, preferred? Must be able to work independently, take initiative, and be self-motivated? Valid driver's license required? Good communication (written and verbal) skills? Good time management skills? Demonstration of proficiency in attention to detail? Ensure Medication Administration Records are updated with current physician orders for routine and PRN medications? Coordinate with pharmacies to ensure residents receive accurate medications and related prescriptions ? Daily processing of scripts within electronic health portal, Oasis? Monitor doctor appointments and ensure medication changes are acted upon immediately, also ensuring protocols are created as needed? Conduct monthly med check-in to ensure accurate medications are supplied to each resident home? Daily reviewing email communication from pharmacies, as well as what is received from house medical email groups and helpline ? Receive medications from pharmacy service, verify deliveries, ensure distribution and facilitate medication changes? Ensure medications are stored, administered, and disposed of correctly? Conduct monthly site visits to review medications, scripts, protocols, and eMAR at resident homes? Follow up with physician offices to obtain updated documentation and facilitate filing? Schedule appointments and accompany residents, as needed for medical visits ? Compile reports and resident-specific documents, as directed by supervisor? Communicate with other services providers, as directed by supervisor? Maintain clear and accurate records? Update internal tracking spreadsheets and monitor deadlines ? Demonstrate leadership to house staff on resident wellness needs ? Participate in required meetings and trainings? Perform direct care, as needed? Participate in rotating on-call helpline 24/7 support? Perform other duties as assigned WORKING CONDITIONSPhysical Demands? The Medication Coordinator will have to spend time sitting and using office equipment and computers which can cause muscle and eye strain. The Medication Coordinator will perform light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time but must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. The Medication Coordinator will need to be able to safely walk to resident homes located on campus to deliver medications and perform site visits.Environmental Conditions? Day Spring is a busy facility. The Medication Coordinator may have to manage several projects at one time and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of residents, staff, vendors and family members. The Medication Coordinator may find the environment to be busy, noisy and will need excellent organizational and time and stress management skills to complete the required tasks.?
