Occupational Therapist School Setting in Arlington Heights, IL

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students and young adults as an Occupational Therapist in a school-based environment. This position offers a balanced schedule of 18 hours per week, beginning May 26th and running through June 25th, 2026. You'll engage with a diverse caseload, working with individuals from Pre-K to those transitioning to adulthood. The role primarily takes place in a supportive school atmosphere, with a small portion-2 hours weekly-allocated to providing services at a local home setting.


Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Master's or doctorate degree from an ACOTE-approved OT program
• Successful completion of OT program-required fieldwork/clinical training
• National certification achieved by passing the NBCOT exam (Illinois requires direct exam verification)
• Active Illinois OT state license and compliance with licensing fees and continuing education
• Previous work in a school setting and familiarity with IEPs are preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive occupational therapy services according to individualized plans
• Empower students and transitioning young adults to develop essential daily living, educational, and vocational skills
• Document assessments, progress notes, and maintain compliance with IEP processes and timelines
• Collaborate with educators, families, and support teams to optimize student outcomes
• Provide consistent, person-centered care both onsite at schools (16 hours/week) and during home sessions (2 hours/week)
• Stay current with best practices in school-based occupational therapy
