Location : Libertyville, IL.

Job Summary

• Support, maintain, and optimize automation systems used in injection molding manufacturing environments.
• Troubleshoot robots, PLCs, HMIs, conveyors, sensors, and related automation equipment to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to improve process efficiency and product quality.
• Ensure automation systems operate safely and comply with quality and manufacturing standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Program, troubleshoot, and optimize molding robots for part handling, degating, packaging, and material movement.
• Diagnose and resolve automation issues involving PLCs, HMIs, motion control systems, VFDs, sensors, and pneumatic/hydraulic equipment.
• Support mold trials, new product introductions, and automation setup activities for production launches.
• Maintain automation documentation, program backups, maintenance records, and equipment performance logs.

Technical Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on robots, conveyors, vision systems, sensors, and automation equipment.
• Modify robot programs, paths, and sequences to improve cycle times, efficiency, and part quality.
• Calibrate sensors, actuators, and control devices to ensure reliable system performance.
• Recommend and implement automation improvements through Lean, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, industrial sensors, servo motors, motion control systems, and VFDs.
• Experience with robot programming and troubleshooting in an injection molding environment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and automation documentation.
• Familiarity with EOAT (End-of-Arm Tooling), pneumatic systems, and hydraulic equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Technical Certification or Associate Degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Industrial Automation, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in injection molding automation or a related manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with industrial robots such as Fanuc, Sepro, Yushin, Wittmann, or similar platforms.
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
