Associate Attorney - Construction Defect & Insurance Defense

Position Overview

LHH has partnered with a California-based law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with focused experience in Construction Defect and Insurance Defense to support an active and growing litigation practice. This role is open to remote attorneys licensed in California , with flexibility for contract, temp-to-hire, or permanent placement depending on experience and fit.

This opportunity is best suited for an attorney who can step in immediately , manage cases independently, and contribute substantive litigation work without extensive ramp-up.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle construction defect and insurance defense matters from case initiation through resolution
• Prepare and file pleadings, motions, discovery, and related legal documents
• Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies
• Manage motion practice, hearings, and court appearances as required
• Communicate directly with partners, insurers, and clients
• Maintain ownership of assigned caseload in a remote working environment

Required Qualifications

• Active California Bar license in good standing
• Demonstrated experience in construction defect and insurance defense litigation
• Prior experience as a law firm associate
• Strong legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
• Ability to work independently and manage matters with minimal supervision
• Comfortable operating in a remote, fast-paced environment
• Experience defending developers, contractors, subcontractors, or insurance carriers
• Case ownership from inception through motion practice and trial preparation
• Senior-level attorneys with immediate availability are encouraged to apply

Job Details

Location: California (Remote eligible; Los Angeles presence a plus)

Employment Type: Direct Hire preferred; Temp-to-Hire considered

Compensation:

• Contract / Temp-to-Hire: $80 - $140/hour (DOE)

Pay Details: $80.00 to $140.00 per hour
