Senior Accountant

About the Role:This is a great opportunity for a strong Senior Accountant who wants to expand into international accounting, statutory reporting, and multi-currency operations while working with a collaborative global finance team.As one of three Senior Accountants at Backroads,you'll support accounting and reporting for several European entities, working closely with internal teams in the U.S. and Europe as well as external accounting partners. This role offers meaningful exposure to international accounting, statutory reporting, and multi-currency environments, with the support needed to build expertise over time.What You'll Be Doing:International Accounting, Month-End Close & ConsolidationSupport and help coordinate month-end and year-end close activities for international entities, including accurate reporting in accordance with applicable accounting requirements.Maintain and reconcile monthly general ledgers for foreign subsidiaries.Prepare or review account reconciliations prepared by foreign subsidiary staff and/or external service providers.Oversee inter-company transactions, post and review journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and inter-company reconciliations, currency revaluation and translation adjustments.Prepare and review monthly consolidated financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP.Manage preparation and review of statutory financial statements across multiple countries.Monitor and implement changes to international accounting standards and regulations.Provide meaningful reporting to management to ensure confidence in the excellence of subsidiary accounting processes and procedures.Tax & Regulatory ComplianceSupport annual statutory audits for foreign subsidiaries.Assist with the preparation of annual inter-company agreements in compliance with transfer pricing requirements.Prepare and review VAT/GST returns, corporate tax filings, and other country specific tax obligations.Maintain compliance with statutory reporting requirements in all jurisdictions & partner with external tax advisors to resolve complex cross-border tax matters.Ensure timely submission of government and regulatory filings across all countries of operations.Process Improvement & CollaborationIdentify opportunities to streamline consolidation and reporting processes.Partner with treasury, tax, and FP&A teams to ensure aligned and accurate reporting.Perform other duties as requestedWhat You'll Need to Be Successful:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.5 + years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a multi-entity environment.Strong general ledger accounting experience, including journal entries, accruals, reclasses, account reconciliation, and month-end close.Experience supporting monthly close processes with a high level of accuracy, organization, and attention to deadlines.Experience with intercompany transactions, reconciliations, or cross-entity accounting activity.Solid understanding of US GAAP and strong ability to research, document, and apply accounting guidance.Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems.Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, external service providers, and stakeholders in different time zones.Strong communication skills, ownership mindset, and comfort working in a fast-paced close environment.Preferred:Exposure to international accounting, foreign subsidiaries, or multi-currency accounting.Experience with foreign currency remeasurement, translation, or FX gain/loss analysis.Experience with consolidations, intercompany eliminations, or multi-entity reporting packages.Exposure to statutory audits, statutory financial statements, local GAAP, IFRS, VAT/GST, or other country-specific compliance requirements.Experience coordinating with third-party accounting firms, tax advisors, or remote finance teamsExperience with NetSuite, Oracle, Workday, Epicor, or similar ERP systems.Experience identifying process improvements, improving close timelines, or strengthening account reconciliation processes.What You'll Gain in This Role:Direct exposure to international accounting and statutory reportingExperience working across multiple countries and currenciesOpportunity to build expertise in consolidations and global financeCollaboration with global teams and external partnersWork Environment:Berkeley, CADue to close collaboration with our international teams, there may be early hours required.4-days in the office, 1 day work-from-home (Wednesdays)About the Department :The Finance team is an international group of financial professionals dedicated to supporting our global business, protecting company assets, and providing strategic analysis, budgeting, and reporting to support the company's objectives.
