Product Development Engineer

Overview The Product Development Engineer leads the technical development for automotive engineering projects. Leads product development activities per the organization’s product development process. Responsibilities Leads technical activities on assigned automotive product development projects. Plans and organizes project activities from Phase 0 to Phase 5 of Rea’s product development process. Translates customer requirements into specifications and testing activities. Leads DFMEAs, identifies risks, and engineers risk mitigation activities for projects. Identifies validation and verification activities needed for internal design needs and to meet customer requirements. Leads internal design reviews following the design control practices. Practices design for lean and six sigma methodology. Collaborates with laboratory resources to complete all testing activities. Collaborates with the automotive team. Works with plant’s APQP team. Supports and implements various tasks, projects, and actions in support of the automotive strategic plan. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering. Master of Science preferred. 5+ years of applicable experience in product/process engineering experience. Appreciation for continuous improvement in design practices, testing practices and overall improvements for the manufacturing of products. Strong working knowledge of APQP. Ability to problem solve and correct situations using engineering principles. Effective interpersonal communication skills. Ability to travel 20-30% domestically and up to 10% internationally.
