Restaurant Manager

Gaijin, Chef Paul Virant's Japanese restaurant in the West Loop, is looking for a leader to help us grow! We are now interviewing for an experienced restaurant manager to lead our team in providing outstanding hospitality. Our ideal candidates are career-minded, have a passion for providing extraordinary customer service, and excel at communication and teamwork.

Job Responsibilities

Helping to manage the floor, including touching tables, overseeing staff, monitoring the door, resolving any conflicts or guest concerns
Helping to manage all employees, including supporting the GM in training, performance management, and discipline
Display exceptional leadership skills and ability to mentor and train a diverse staff
Event & catering management with 2% commission earned on all private events
Achieve outstanding guest satisfaction ratings
Ensure quality and consistency of every facet of FOH operations, with a guest-focused mindset
Manage daily restaurant operations and standards of cleanliness
Work gracefully and consistently in a fast-paced environment, managing many moving parts with a focused but fun attitude
Responsibly and thoroughly complete all tasks associated with opening and closing the restaurant

Background and Qualities

Strong desire to promote a culture of exceptional hospitality
Passion for educating staff and guests on what may be unfamiliar (but delicious and exciting!) cuisine, beverages, techniques, and flavors
Able to meet the physical demands of the job (stand and walk for an entire shift, lift up to 40 lbs, operate all necessary tools, equipment, and cleaning chemicals)
Floor management experience preferred, with strong, enthusiastic leadership skills
Servsafe and bassett certified
Night/weekend availability a must
Familiarity with Toast, Resy, and Tock a plus
