We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Senior Accountant with strong experience in journal entries, payroll accounting, project allocations, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting within a services or project-based accounting environment.

This role will play a key part in month-end close, general ledger management, project-based accounting operations, and financial reporting across multiple entities. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience preparing complex journal entries, managing payroll-related accounting, performing account reconciliations, and producing accurate financial statements including P&Ls.

This position is best suited for someone with a background in project-based or service-oriented businesses where vendor spend, project costing, allocations, and operational financial visibility are critical. Candidates whose experience is primarily focused on manufacturing, inventory accounting, or production cost accounting are not the ideal fit.

The ideal candidate is someone who can work independently, improve processes, build structure, and ensure accounting accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Journal Entries

· Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including:

o Payroll entries

o Accruals and prepaid expenses

o Intercompany transactions

o Project allocations

o AP and vendor-related entries

· Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger across multiple entities

· Ensure proper accounting treatment and supporting documentation for all entries

· Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes

Payroll Accounting & Project Allocations

· Prepare and reconcile payroll-related journal entries and supporting schedules

· Manage project-based cost allocations across departments, clients, and business units

· Ensure labor and vendor costs are accurately allocated for project margin visibility and reporting

· Analyze project spend and identify discrepancies or allocation issues

Balance Sheet Reconciliations

· Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations including:

o Clearing accounts

o Accrual accounts

o Prepaids and other balance sheet accounts

· Investigate variances and resolve discrepancies timely and accurately

· Maintain reconciliation support and audit-ready documentation

Financial Reporting & Analysis

· Prepare monthly financial reporting packages including:

o Profit & Loss statements

o Balance Sheets

o Variance analysis

o Supporting schedules

· Assist leadership with financial analysis and operational reporting

· Support margin visibility and project profitability reporting

Accounts Payable & Vendor Spend Support

· Support AP operations and vendor payment processing across multiple entities

· Validate invoices against purchase orders, project scope, approvals, and supporting documentation

· Track project-related vendor spend to support accurate billing and reporting

· Assist with purchasing controls, PO tracking, and vendor management workflows

Process Improvement & Controls

· Help build and improve accounting processes, controls, and SOPs

· Support implementation of scalable workflows related to:

o Purchasing and payment approvals

o Journal entry controls

o Reconciliation procedures

o Project allocation methodologies

o Documentation standards

· Identify process gaps and recommend operational improvements

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a Senior Accountant or similar role

· Strong experience preparing and managing journal entries, including payroll accounting

· Experience with project allocations and project-based accounting environments

· Advanced balance sheet reconciliation experience

· Experience preparing financial reports including P&Ls and supporting schedules

· Strong understanding of accrual accounting and general ledger activity

· Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct preferred

· Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, reconciliation analysis, and reporting

· Experience supporting month-end close in a multi-entity environment

· Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

· Sage Intacct experience required

· Multi-entity accounting experience

· Experience in staffing, consulting, telecom, field services, outsourced services, or other project/service-based businesses

· Experience improving accounting processes and internal controls

· Experience supporting audit preparation and documentation

· Experience working with offshore accounting support teams

· Journal entries are accurate, timely, and properly supported

· Payroll accounting and project allocations are completed accurately each month

· Balance sheet reconciliations are clean, organized, and audit-ready

· Financial reports and P&Ls are delivered accurately and on schedule

· Project costs and vendor spend are properly tracked and allocated

· Accounting processes become more scalable, controlled, and efficient

· Issues are proactively identified and resolved before impacting reporting or operations
