Responsibilities

The goal of the Hospital Billing (HB) Patient Account Representative is to follow up on unpaid hospital claims from commercial and government payers to ensure timely reimbursement. You will contact insurance companies to determine the status of outstanding claims and resolve payment issues, including:

• Researching and resolving denial codes
• Reviewing EOBs and ERAs
• Correcting claim errors and billing edits
• Submitting corrected claims and appeals
• Resolving missing documentation or medical record requests
• Investigating authorization and referral issues
• Resolving coordination of benefits (COB) issues
• Researching and resolving credit balances and overpayments
• Following up on partial payments and underpayments
• Documenting account activity in Epic HB or other billing systems
• Working a minimum of 50 accounts per day while meeting productivity and quality standards

Required Skills

Core Technical & System Requirements

• Epic System Experience: 2 years of epic experience
• Payer Expertise: Strong payer follow-up experience, specifically Anthem experience for the Hospital Billing (HB) positions (which is the highest area of need).
• 2+ Years of A/R or Patient Account Experience

Performance & Productivity Standards

• Productivity Quota: Demonstrated capability to meet 50 accounts per day
• Quality & Performance: Proven track record meeting high quality and productivity metrics in previous roles.
• Ramp-Up Capacity: Ability to reach full performance standards within an 8-week (60-day) ramp-up period.

Preferred Skills

• Commercial Payer Specialty (Anthem): High-level expertise dealing directly with Anthem rules, denials, and claim resolution processes.
• Adaptability to Change & Project Shifts: Experience navigating organizational change and software migrations (critical due to ongoing system updates and the upcoming "Project One" IT initiative).

Schedule/Shift

Monday - Friday

8am - 5pm (30 mins for lunch) CST
